Earlier this year, a wonderful client ordered furniture from a number of our Collections, including a walnut Franc Ottoman with a bespoke embroidered cushion made by Casamento Design.
Casamento are a small team of skilled artisans based in Cape Town, creating unusual upholstered furniture and hand-embroidered cushions. They use methods that are innovative, yet traditional, using waxed twines and bamboo yarns, working in an environmentally conscious manner. The Franc Ottoman’s embroidery is intricately stitched onto inky blue Soho linen and is significant to our client, as it features two trees that grow on their farm in the Limpopo area of South Africa – namely ‘Wild pear’ and Lekkerbreek’.
We worked with Casamento on the very first Franc Ottoman made in 2015, and seven years later we had the pleasure of collaborating on the most unique Franc Ottoman we’ve made to date.
